Stasera a Concerto 2022: Roberto Plano
6 May 2022

Stasera a Concerto”: concert review with internationally renowned pianists.
Each event is accompanied by a short presentation, in the form of a conversation or an introduction-guide to listening, by musicologists Roberto Calabretto and Luca Cossettini, the pianist-conductor Alessandro Tommasi, or the same interpreters.

FROM THE OLD TO THE NEW WORLD
By Roberto Plano

Award-winner at the Van Cliburn, Honens, Geza Anda, Dublin, Valencia and Sendai Competitions, Roberto Plano shined with winning at the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 2001. That event marked the start of his tours, especially in North America, and immediately projected him to a brilliant international concert career. Critics defined him “the Pavarotti of the piano” for his lyricism and the “successor of Rubinstein and Horowitz. In the autumn of 2016, he became the first Italian pianist to become a Faculty Member of Piano at Boston University. He was recently awarded the American Prize. He’s the first Italian musician to receive this prestigious prize. Cherished both as soloist and chamber music pianist, he’s today a Faculty Member of piano at one of the most prestigious musical institutions in the world, the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Besides the major American Universities, his master classes and concerts are held in Japan, Taiwan and Italy.
